Case Studies > Rugged Displays

In 2003 Aish Technologies were under contract to design and supply Platform Management System Consoles for the new Type 45 Destroyer for the Royal Navy. Although displays were not originally part of the scope of work, our customer was unable to source a suitable display that was of the required size and specification.
Aish Technologies seized the opportunity and were able to offer a design using our expertise in the field of packaging of electronics into harsh environments and then going to an independent test house to verify that design. The 20” product that evolved was so successful in achieving the desired goals of both Aish and our customer that we quickly saw further opportunities for a generic design.
Aish are now supplying all the displays for T45 Combat Management System Consoles along with those for the Platform Management System. These were won in competition where the price and performance were paramount with the Project Office and their sub contractor. In one product we are fitting standard commercial TFT displays behind a protective screen for use in a Naval environment.
To date our successes have included the following screen sizes 8.4”, 12.1”, 17”, 18.1”, 19”, 20.1”, 21.3” and 23” including some with touch screen overlays. Our success has been amplified because of our ability to mechanically and electrically adapt our design to suit our customer’s individual requirements. This means that where an off the shelf solution doesn’t suffice, then Aish, with it’s in house design and manufacturing facility, can tailor a product to meet our customer's needs.
